Sacred Heart Catholic Church at 5000 Military Road, Sioux City, IA 51103 US - First Reconciliation
"On the evening of that day, the first day of the week," Jesus showed himself to his apostles. "He breathed on them, and said to them: 'Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven; if you retain the sins of any, they are retained.'"
(Catechism of the Catholic Church 1485; Jn 20:19, 22-23)
Children prepare for the Sacrament of Reconciliation during the second (2nd) grade year. Children who attend Bishop Heelan Catholic Schools (BHCS) receive catechesis in the classroom. Children who do not attend Bishop Heelan Catholic Schools should enroll in the Religious Education Program for catechesis. All children, whether attending BHCS or Religious Education, receive the sacrament in the Church, and therefore formal communication regarding the celebration of the sacrament comes from the parish.
The following dates apply to all children who attend BHCS or the Religious Education Program at Sacred Heart Church (REP). The following dates also pertain to children who are parish members of Sacred Heart Church, St. Boniface Church, or St. Joseph Church.
